As shown in the picture on the left, insert the tip of a seam ripper under the first stitch that you will unstitch. Remove the stitches only to the horizontal seam. In this case, I removed three stitches.

Do this on both sides of the seam for all intersections of each block.

Press the seams open as shown to the left.  The intersection is now flat.
